First in the Baltic Sea region

Rohe Solutions started the production of Bio-LNG i.e. liquefied biomethane using liquefaction from the grid in August 2024 at the Hamina LNG terminal, being the first in the Baltic Sea region to do this.

Liquefaction from the grid improves the capability of the gas system and enables more efficient use of the existing gas grid infrastructure.

Did You Know This About Bio-LNG and biogas?

Biogas can refer to untreated raw biogas, biomethane, or liquefied and purified biogas (Bio-LNG, LBG, or CBG). The biogas distributed by Rohe is ready-to-use biomethane, i.e. Bio-LNG, which can directly replace liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Biogas is produced from various feedstocks, primarily through processing organic waste. Biogas is naturally produced in anaerobic conditions when microbes break down organic matter. At biogas production plants, it is produced by breaking down biomass in biogas reactors. This biomass mainly consists of municipal waste and agricultural and industrial residues. No food-grade materials are used in biogas production.
